Swine Flu Threat Level Raised

The headlines are getting bigger, however I am still feeling that the current swine flu stories coming from newspapers is like the Avian flu panic that came around a few years ago. If you follow the headlines, you'll never come out of your house.

I did a little research today and found out that WHO, have raised the threat level to four (out of six)

Also their update service yesterday said there were 40 confirmed US cases of swine flu, with no deaths and only 26 confirmed cases in Mexico with 7 deaths. This kind of made me feel a little better, because according to what you read in the papers there are thousands of people infected with the disease, but if there are only a minute amount of confirmed cases then how can they be justified in raising the levels of panic as they have been?

I realise that it may be taking some time for the Mexican results to be processed, and that in the US, there are probably better reporting systems in place, after all CDC (Center for Disease Control) in Atlanta, Georgia is probably going to process US samples a lot quicker than foreign ones anyway. I just think the newspapers in particular need to calm down a bit.
