I seem to have got over my paranoia from yesterday, and am back to my usual -'when you're number's up' - type philosophy on life and death. However I do know that I can't afford as a freelancer to be laid up in bed for weeks on end, quarantined with Swine Flu, and not being able to get anything or see anyone.
I know that internet services will come into their own then, meaning I'll be able to do my shopping online and have it delivered, so I won't starve to death if I should be unfortunate enough to contract swine flu or the H1N1 virus.
I thought today about whether employers are making any provisions for people who want to work from home, should things get worse really quickly? The threat level last night was raised to five (of six) by the World Health Organization, so we are potentially quite quickly going to reach a stage when Swine flu is officially at pandemic levels, so what will happen when it comes to working?
Mexico City it's reported has all but ground to a halt with people too scared to come out of their houses or receive visitors. The travel companies here have cancelled all holidays to Mexico, and all people on planes returning from there are coming back with people wearing masks, being quarantined if they feel unwell.
These precautions are necessary, however it's a bit quiet on the local front in terms of what preventative measures are being put in place around London, especially on it's transport system????
The disease incubates for 7 days so potentially over the coming weekend, we'te going to see confirmed cases of Swine flu in the capital ramp up significantly. The new health campaign adverts catch it, bin it, kill it has started with ads in the newspapers, on radio (I assume) and on TV. (Outbreak!!! I still have a compulsion to watch it and apparently we have copy on VHS somewhere in the house)
