Well Swine flu is not on the front page of this morning's Metro newspaper, I have to get to page 4 before the first story appears, but it's a double pager with various swine flu related items including one on 3M, the company who makes the N95 Masks I talked about a few days ago.
If you've been following the papers then you will notice that the tone has mellowed considerably, and we are getting signs of action from the government, putting out information to doctors and health professionals to pass on to the public.
I read an interesting article online from someone who was explaining that masks are actually meant to keep you from spreading your germs to other people, and that they're not very efficient at keeping the virus from getting to you. This because the masks needs to form an airtight seal in order to be effective.
I suppose that makes sense, however I still think that they are better than nothing and help to filter out most of the germ that fly around, especially on the underground network.
To date I have only seen one person travelling wearing a mask. I don't think it's because people aren't worried about being infected with swine flu, however I don't think the public at least in the UK are at all convinced that there is a problem that warrants the accessory.
